How PageRank helps your search engine optimization efforts

In his email dated 14th April 2009, Jonathan Leger wrote as follows:

If you've followed my blog posts very long, then you know that I am NOT one of these "gurus" who claims that PageRank is the be-all-end-all of ranking in Google.

In fact, having a high PageRank does not guarantee your site will rank for anything in Google.  The claim that high PR equals good rankings is one of the myths I destroyed in my Search Engine Myths Exposed report early last year.

However, there are advantages to getting LINKS from sites that have at least some PageRank.  Those advantages are:

1. If a site has PageRank, then you know it hasn't been banned by Google, and is not in what Google considers a "bad neighborhood."

2. The higher a site's PageRank, the more often Google will recrawl the site, which means your links get indexed and counted faster -- which, of course, helps your rankings.

3. Generally speaking, the higher a site's PR, the more backlinks that site has to it.  The more backlinks, the greater the site's "authority" in Google's eyes, and therefore the more weight that is put on any links coming from that site.

Those three reasons are why I decided that my new linking system, MyWayLinks.net, will only accept sites that have at least a public PageRank value of 1 or higher.

This system is "you link to some of the sites in the system, and some OTHER sites in the system will link to you" -- so the links are ONE-WAY, not reciprocal.  That makes the value of the system so much greater.

The system takes most of the grunt-work away from you by verifying the links pages are live and that your links are still there DAILY. Try keeping up with verifying hundreds of links manually!

All of the sites in the system are categorized so you can pick and choose which sites you'd like your links to be submitted to.  If you want only links from sites related to yours in theme, that's fine.  If you want links from as many sites as possible, that's fine, too!  Lots of sites will accept links from any category.
